Update: tippy 0.2
Tippy - a simple firefox extension that adds favicons and tooltips to livemarks.
It also adds favicons and tooltips to the drop down menu for the back and forward button.
The main motivation for this was for mixed feeds like a blogsearch feed, a technorati feed, or a del.icio.us feed. I normally want to know where I’m going before I click a link. When I get some time, I also want to add part of the link description to the tooltip and add icons/tooltips to the “Go” menu.
It currently only works in the Firefox betas because I was too lazy to make a contents.rdf file.
I’m using parts of MochiKit in the extension (specifically, Base and Logging). I tried it out after Aaron explained to me that it’s not a huge framework, just some common utility methods and classes that are in almost any javascript project (e.g., hitch a.k.a. bind). It uses lots of closures which makes me nervous about memory leaks in IE, but that’s not as big of a concern in a Firefox extension.
