tag, you're it!

We have tags for bookmarks and for pictures, but what about music? Maybe audioscrobbler should allow users to tag what they are listening to.

One of the things I like about del.icio.us is that readers add tags to bookmarks, not authors. It’s more useful to know how a group of readers tag a page than how a single author might tag a page. It’s too easy for an author to have a limited tag vocabulary at the time of writing. This is one of the main reasons why I don’t have categories for my blog posts.

I wish Flickr would allow other people to tag photos. (Ick, I’m spouting mis-information. Thanks for correcting me, Eric.)

Oh, and in case you’re not on the del.icio.us mailing list, Joshua is experimenting with bar graphs.

You seem to doing some interesting stuf with gmail, tags and I had something similar I have been thinking about. Archiving/organising data/files in gmail but not as Gdrive/Gfilesystem, but as mails with tags… Mindmapped as follows ->

Data organisation

matrix or hierarchical categories for organised view spreadsheet with hyperlinked data spreadsheet with embedded data

spreadsheet with data filter tags RTF table matrix with data filter tags

hierarchical categories

tags for flagging data with classification

matrix row/column titles, or hierarchical category names are also tags for filtering data

gmail data repository zip files use a browser with “on-the-fly unzip” or “unzip before open” enabled attach 1 file/file set per email, with files sharing all email tags

use one email for indexing/organising the data by organising tags in either matrix or heirarchical format

Phew… hope I am clear…
