my crappy maps mashup

While I was driving up highway 1 a couple weeks ago, I thought it would have been nice if I could enter a starting and ending location on a web page and get a list of what the NPR stations along the route would be.
Well, this doesn’t do that. Instead, all it does is plot where all the NPR stations are. Getting it to work with driving directions sounds hard, so I don’t plan on trying.
It was a bit slow rendering all the stations on my machine, so it groups stations by state until you zoom in. I think a heat map (maybe normalized by population or land area?) would be better than a marker at each state capital, but that also sounds like more work (but perhaps trivial using matplotlib).
Oh, NPR also has some neat coverage maps.
