better than code jelly

Topcoder and Google have announced this year’s Code Jam, a programming contest for 50,000$US in prizes. The main difference from last year’s code jam is that the top 50 competitors will get free trips to Mountain View for the finals at the Googleplex. I think it’s clear that Google is still in the process of hiring more people.

Anyway, although I’m not eligible to compete this year (and I’m not longer eligible to compete in the spring Collegiate Challenge), I will probably get a chance to meet the finalists this year. That should be your motivation for being in the top 50, getting a free trip to visit me. :)

I’d love to win a trip to the googleplex. Any tips on how to do well?

Practice.

The past 75 or so online contests are available in the arena applet. Create an account, login to the arena and select practice rooms from the menu.
